Policy
In 2026, there’s no excuse for well over half of our people living paycheck-to-paycheck, barely able to scrape by. We need bold, serious action to take on the ultra-powerful - and win ground for working people.
To do that, the community must drive change, not politicians or outside organizations. That’s how I’d lead and that’s how I’ll govern: always with a focus on what I can do to help the families in Franklin County and Alburgh.
When I get to Montpelier, I won’t be a rubber stamp for the majority. Not a chance. I’ll be fighting with you, not for party - as it should be.
Affordable, Quality Healthcare
Vermonters deserve a healthcare system that works for them, not wealthy CEOs. We need to transform our healthcare system away from the for-profit, broken status quo towards a future where everyone can go to the doctor without worrying about how to pay the bill. As a state senator, I would:
Implement a statewide single-payer healthcare system that applies to all Vermonters
Increase number of qualified providers in Vermont by working with state systems academic institutions
Increase resources for local Agencies on Aging so that more Vermonters can age on their own terms
Address Our Rising Housing Costs
I hear constantly from renters and small business owners struggling with unlivable rents and poor upkeep from their landlord. Meanwhile, we’re asking modest homeowners to constantly foot the bill for education. What we need is to protect the housing stock we do have, continue to build, and transition away from a broken property tax system. I would:
Work to pass rent stabilization statewide so tenants can stay in their homes
Reform the education tax system to be based on income and not the value of your home
Make huge investments in affordable housing, mixed-use housing, and housing for seniors to age in place
Economic Development
The truth is that our economy is not built for the most Vermonters. Instead, the ultra-wealthy make off just fine, while the rest of us struggle to get by. We must transform our economy and begin investing in our people. I would:
Protect local businesses from being priced out by huge corporations
Restore power to local communities to lead land use planning - don’t let Montpelier draw our maps for us
Tax the ultra-wealthy to fund critical services like affordable housing and gaps left by the Trump administration
Defend Our Education System
Our district is home to many small schools that a handful of legislators want to close due to group think in Montpelier. That’s not Vermont - that’s not who we are. People move to our state because they want the community schools that mean so much to our towns. We must back our teachers, our students, and our families by rejecting this corrupt bargain. I would:
Reject all efforts to close our community schools and instead, invest in their success
Stand up for teachers, parents, and students by fully funding our education system
Promote our career and technical centers (CTEs) and expand offerings to provide more opportunities for our kids to get ahead
Protect Our freedoms
Vermonters are working longer hours than ever, at higher productivity than ever. But wages are stagnant, and the secure middle-class one-earner household is becoming a thing of the past. Meanwhile, national Republicans and the Trump Administration are working to gut our social safety net and strip Americans of their basic rights. No one is free when they live in poverty or can barely afford to get by. Both our economic and civil freedoms are under attack. We must fight back in the legislature. I would:
Support all efforts by Vermonters to form unions
Safeguard freedom of speech in our community and the right to protest
Defend our liberties like the right to an abortion, the right to develop your land, and the right to own firearms
